This picture taken in front of Museum Bank Indonesia, Kota, Jakarta. The yellow sign-board said “Do not sit along the wall” (“Dilarang duduk di tembok”). But this man just lay over that wall exactly in front of that yellow sign-board.
I made a few guess why he did so. First, he cant read so he cant understand that yellow sign-board. The other possibility, he can read but he think another way around. He might say, “If I am not allowed to SIT then I decided to LAY down”.
This object entitled “I will not join the party if I can not dance”. This is one object that catch my attention on Indonesian Contemporary Art & Design (ICAD) exhibition at Plaza Indonesia, Jakarta, yesterday. This exhibition showed variety of curated art and design installations from many artist. One of them is Dolorosa Sinaga whom designed the “I will not join the party if I can not dance”.
This is one of few not-well-managed garden in the middle of this big Jakarta city. Whilst rest of the city hectic with full activities this man prefer to rest for awhile by taking a nap under those trees. The earth as the bed, the trees as the wall and the sky as the roof. This spot belongs to him, as his house, for this moment. Temporarily.
